Reichert Statement on American Health Care Act

Over the past few months I have heard from over ten thousand constituents, democrats, republicans and independents, from across the Eighth District on the current state of the American healthcare system.  I have been touched by the heartfelt stories and encouraged by the desire to give Americans the health care they deserve.

So, where do we go from here?

While I continue to believe that the ACA is failing us, last week I expressed many concerns to my colleagues about the American Health Care Act and I was in agreement with leadership to withdraw the bill from consideration.

Congress can do better. We must do better, and we will do better.  We have the opportunity to work together to create a healthcare system that gives the American people more freedom to choose while simultaneously protecting the most vulnerable among us. This has always been my goal and I will continue to work until it is achieved
