Reichert Supports Critical Cybersecurity Legislation
Washington, D.C. – This week, U.S. Congressman Dave Reichert voted in support of the Protecting Cyber Networks Act (H.R. 1560) and the National Cybsersecurity Protection Advancement Act (H.R. 1731) to protect against criminal activity such as cyber theft and espionage.
“This week, the House has passed important legislation to protect American citizens from cyberattacks. As Washingtonians are only too familiar with, after the recent breach of Premera Blue Cross’s IT systems by hackers, living in such an advanced technological age has very real benefits, but it also comes with its own set of risks that have opened up Americans to new threats. This new legislation will permit organizations to securely share information and guard against cyber-threats, by protecting networks and data from outsiders while addressing privacy concerns.”
H.R. 1560 passed the house by a vote of 307 to 116 and H.R. 1731 passed by a vote of 355 to 63.
